It's amazing when you think that all this could just be a side story in the other novel🥲

The real reason the author ended the book like that and didn’t continue it even tho he could have was he said: “some people will not like the ending, but sgwm is already not earning me enough money to save for a house or apartment eventually, and it is only dropping, I can't continue writing sgwm if I actually wanna get somewhere in life” I don’t really hate the ending, but it felt like the ending of an Arc rather than the whole story. The author definitely could have kept it going, writing more about Shang’s adventures in the new unknown and all that stuff, but it was still a satisfying ending nonetheless, much better than a majority of stories I’ve read…

WN strikes again. Ruining good books because they can barely pay their top Authors. (Or at least let them get patreon exclusive stuff.)

Yall don't understand this is quite honestly the best ending we could have gotten.Shang couldn't be redeemed. We saw him kill Jerald his son and people you can call his "friends" for the sake of power.A person can't be redeemed out of nowhere in the end cause it would be an asspull.IT WASN'T SHANG but ALEX that was redeemed at the end and it developed both Shang and Alex as characters at the end.The cliffhanger is acceptable cause then they would ascend and the story would continue for a long time.I even bet we will see them at the end of the other novel.Honestly it's not even a bad ending i would say a rather good one

I didn't expect Shang to be redeemed, but the ending was very unsatisfying. It felt very rushed. The author had originally stated that he planned to end the book at around 1200~1300 around last year on discord, and I wish he would've stuck with his first plan. The ending was more like a beginning. The novel felt incomplete. I don't want to wait a year or two to see what happened to Shang in the authors next novel, I WANT ANSWERS NOW!!! lol

He was thinking of dropping it cause it wasn’t making money but instead decided to rush an ending

Great read… But after reading this I seriously gotta take a break from this general darker style of light novels, author got my emotions all out of wack and my heart might have palpitation problems now. Happy to say I officially completed my first light novel until completion, but after this I gotta recover lmao. For my next read, was thinking about picking up the prequel LOTW? Is it any good?

The only thing currently keeping me attached to this novel is its power system. Can someone recommend me a novel with better or similar power system because this power system is I think among the best.

I'm realizing that dark novels like this have kind of ruined my ability to enjoy more wholesome novels, that I really used to like, and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Yeah. Don't know when it started for me, but at some point I could just only read dark fantasy type stuff. (It's been maybe 2.5 years?) And it honestly sucks. My living situation, personality, morals, and outlook on life haven't changed much. But at some point after reading/watching dark fantasy I just grew bored of wholesome stuff. It not like I dislike it, I just get bored whenever I see it. I used to enjoy things like [Ascendance of a Bookworm], now it takes an hour to watch 1 episode. It's exhausting having to search for only Dark stuff. I just wanna enjoy what I read/watch without it having to have most of the characters dying. (I wonder if sensory deprivation, and a long break from the internet could reset my tastes? Food for thought. )

Bro this is the exact situation I’m in right now Mine’s about 3-4 months now tho and not years Everything that’s not dark fantasy now just feels boring, i no longer derive joy from reading it and it feels like a chore It’s so boring that I had to go and reread Reverend insanity just to pass time Maybe a break from reading stuff would help?

Yeah read Genius Warlock, the world is dark and crazy and the mc is not good and not evil if you read like 10 chapters you’d understand Also try Harry Potter: dimensional wizard if you’ve watched the Harry Potter movie at least.

nope because now you see the stupid mistakes and emotional decisions mc's make and get saved by plot or in shounen its annoying when they get beat up by a random girl for even looking at them wierd despite a bullet not even making them flinch but honestly when you see a character that was dark become nicer they just get stupider and make dumb decisions while a darker mc trusts barely anyone so is always prepared like sometimes a maincharcter wouldn't suffer so much if the just kill the villan or fight dirty

I prefer a more dark style but I still enjoy other stuff the trick is to read and watch wholesome stuff at the same time like in between every major binge read or watch I watched Horimiya AND watched the masterful cat is depressed again today but im not telling you to try and read a straight wholesome novel because it'll get boring fast and any novel where they make the mc fluctuate between good and bad gets annoying fast like I'm reading supreme magus and lith keeps annoying me with how he treats others and lies to himself and solous should just shut up because the world isn't sunshine and rainbows and you shouldn't make decisions for someone else and I know lith will somehow forgive her but I'm still annoyed if anything he's the adult and she's a child just tell phloria and his friends that he doesn't travel with them cause they are weak even all of them couldn't beat a weakened lith . . sorry I went on a rant I recently started reading supreme magus and I might actually drop IT

As someone who read Lightning is the only way before Sword God, it's amazing to see how much author has improved power-system to the point Sword God imo is atleast top 3 among power-systems in general. LITOW had some major flaws(understandableas it was authors first novel) biggest to me was it's power-system, specifically system of Laws and Wills. Gravis would learn hundreds of Laws but never utilize any of them, just learning for the sake of learning. For eg when Gravis first learned the "Law of Graphite" I was excited how he would utilize it.. he never did and proceeded to learn other thousand concepts which he also never used. Infact he never used more than 10 since start to finish of novel and his fighting style remained the same with very minor changes. And their's WILL, it's basically kings-haki which gets stronger when you kill people your level or above. It sounded good on paper until it became the most repetitive cr*p. I am glad author scraped WILL permanently from Sword God

That will cr*p was one of the major reasons I couldn’t continue reading it, I mean it’s okay if it’s only used once in a while like conquerors haki, but when it’s the core of the story and it’s used so much it just gets annoying and no longer feels cool

Just read the ending and am confused why people didn't like it. For those who haven't completed [Lightning is the Only Way] it could be seen as bad since its unknown characters being introduced and random sh*t happening left and right for seemingly no reason. But if you have read it (and if you haven't yet, do it.) then the ending just kinda makes sense to end like this. 9.7/10. Phenomenal read. 100% recommend to all who like seeing a decent into Insanity. Also, so many people told me I was wrong when I said that Litow and this were connected hundreds of chapters ago. Well, who's the dummy now? Even if the Author kept denying they were connected. I saw the very obvious signs. And I shall praise myself for it.
