Summary

With a father as strong as the highest heavens themselves, Gravis wasn't required to step into the cold and ruthless world of cultivation. But when Heaven used him in a scheme to get back at his father, Gravis realized that he needed strength to gain true freedom.

As long as he remained his weak self, he would always remain beneath Heaven’s oppression. Only true power brings true freedom. To gain strength, Gravis ventured into the lower worlds to start his cultivation under true life and death tempering.

Only a strong will, which had been forged in striving for every resource available, would allow him to reach the peak. Heaven’s strongest weapon was Lightning of Divine Punishment, and only if he made this weapon his, would he have a chance.

So, to overthrow Heaven,

Lightning Is the Only Way!

Yet, the path to power is painful.

Not everyone reaches the peak.

But Gravis will!

No matter how much pain he feels along the way!

Being the MC can be a real drag sometimes. It's bad enough feeling small when you're at the bottom of the food chain, but it's even worse feeling insignificant when you're at the top but stil felt smoll . And let's be real, the "serious I wanna be stronger" type of MC is boring AF. But, what if our MC switched things up and went from lawful good to chaotic neutral or evil neutral? Throw in a funny side and a devil-may-care attitude, and you've got yourself a protagonist worth reading about. After all, if you're already at the top, why stress? Just enjoy the ride! Is it worth reading? Nope, not even if you're bored out of your mind. You might as well crack open that dusty old school textbook and have a more entertaining time. Maybe I'm just not feeling this genre anymore, or maybe the last novel I read was just too good. Either way, I can't stand the ranking system on this site

I can’t stand ranking on this site either, what was your last novel, and do you have any recommendations? Anything similar to Reverend Insanity, Warlock of Magus World, Legendary Moonlight Sculptor, Lord of Mysteries, Super Gene, Overgeared, The Second Coming of Gluttony and or Second life Ranker?

i only read the first two chapters before dropping it, so i'm not exactly the best person to go about telling others whether to read it or not, but the reason i dropped it was because the writing/translating style was... strange/different. i know some people like it, but it didn't seem to flow well to me, despite having correct grammar, punctuation, etc. i just couldn't get used to it. everyone else, you do you.

I gotta ask, did I drop this novel too early, I dropped it around chapter 160 cause I wasn't really digging the power system and storyline wasn't all that. Does it get significantly better and how does it tank against Sword god in a world of magic???

I haven’t read SGIAOWM (planning on though), but I highly recommend you stick through to the end. The author has written an extremely compelling story with complex characters and plots. He also did a very good job with foreshadowing and actually remembering past events and characters (something many other novels simply forget about).

Yes. He can move metal with his lightning like with magnets, so he can negatively charge batteries, meaning recharging them.

Worth it. I didn't even know they were the same author before reading the comments and I read LITOW first. I like Sword God a bit better, and there are plenty of cool side characters that are strewn throughout to keep individual arcs interesting, showing an outsider perspective on the MC doing things

It's a must read. The character development is really good especially if you are into personal development yourself. Aside that the world, power system and the story arcs are well written. I am currently at the current chapter and the wait is killing me. There is a seriousness to it that borders on the darkside of life but if you a realist you should be able o appreciate it

I think you are talking about The reincarnation of the strongest sword god. I totally depends upon what you want. Sword god is more focused of combat, game elements like guild development, mc gaining power, tire system. On the basis of the combat and other world related system it is close to perfect you can find. The large scale fights are well written which you rarely find. . . But if you want good writing style ,vocabulary, character development, psychological characters, good reasoning, romance, or humour you will be disappointed.

He's obviously asking about "Sword God in a World of Magic", the author's other work.

I personally won't read an ongoing series. I've been burned too many times by an amazing series that gets dropped by the author/translator partway through. There are plenty of completed series to keep me occupied. I'll probably read Sword God when it's completed though.

I’m Actually a Cultivation Bigshot (not bad, slow-paced but funny) Everyone Else is a Returnee (excellent, my favorite Korean novel) Lord of the Mysteries (amazing, is getting a sequel) The Legendary Mechanic (excellent, trapped in a game scenario) Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint (very good, Korean trapped in a novel scenario) I typically just go to Browse, the sort by Completed.
